CAIRO – 22 September 2017: Egypt’s head coach, Hector Cuper, has decided to call up Omar Gaber for the team’s crucial match against Congo in the World Cup qualifiers.
Cuper had previously excluded Omar from the list of players who will play abroad and face Congo on October 8.

The 25-year-old had fine displays for Basel in the last two games as a starter, which apparently convinced the Argentinean coach and made him reconsider his decision by including him in the Pharaohs’ list.

Egypt is currently on the top of Group E in the 2018 World Cup qualifiers with nine points out of four games, with the upcoming game against Congo potentially proving decisive in the case of Egypt’s victory. This would be the first time the Egyptian national team to join the World Cup since 1990.
