CAIRO –21 September 2017: Amr Warda, who joined Greek club Atromitos Athens from FC PAOK on loan during the summer transfer period, played the full match in the first round of the Greek Cup.

The game seemed it would end in a draw until the hosts were awarded a penalty after Kerkyra’s defender handled the ball inside the goal area following a cross from Warda. The 24-year-old Egyptian player converted the penalty into a goal and secured his team the three points of the match.

Atromitos now sit at the top of Group 4 of the Greek Cup. They are scheduled to face Trikala in the second round, which will be held on October 24.

The former Al Ahly playmaker, who was excluded from the Pharaohs’ squad during their recent match with Uganda in the 2018 World Cup qualifiers, was also left out of the upcoming game against Congo in the penultimate round of the qualifiers.
