CAIRO –19 September 2017: A huge fire broke out at Tottenham Hotspur's White Hart Lane stadium, which is currently being renovated in the British capital, London, on Monday evening.

The fire broke out in the warehouses of the Spurs Stadium, where black smoke covered the sky, the Daily Express newspaper said. Officials had begun investigating the causes of the fire, which witnesses described as “terrifying.”

About 20 fire engines and about 120 firefighters were sent to the burned-out stadiums to try to put out the fire, the newspaper said.

London Ambulance Service said one patient had been taken to hospital with burns to the hand.

Local residents have not been told to leave their homes, despite the proximity of the fire.

Tottenham Hotspur will play this season at Wembley Stadium until the end of renovations and expansion at White Hart Lane, which began in May.

White Hart Lane Stadium was founded in 1898 in the English capital, London, and the new stadium are expected to expand to host 61,000 fans.
