CAIRO – 10 September 2017: Al Ahly started its journey in the Egyptian premier league with a draw with Al Jaish with one goal for each team on Sunday’s evening at Al-Salam Stadium.

Al Ahly entered the game missing three of their starring players: Saleh Gomaa, Momen Zakaria, and Ali Maaloul, who are all suffering from injuries.

Al Ahly started its first match full of hope to defense their Egyptian Premier League title.

Al Jaish believed in their ability to make troubles and play a good game. It was true, as they started the game pressing Al Ahly in their side. Early chance for Salah Amin but his effort goes over. Al Ahly defense caught napping. Walid Soliman bursts a shot but Mohamed Bassam does well to save.

Assem Salah, Al Jaish`s defender, took the lead at the 35th minute from the point of penalty as Amr el-Solia blocks the ball with his hand. Al Jaish surprised Al Ahly. Al Ahly ended the first half trying to score the equalizer but their efforts went away.

Hossam El Badry started the second half with the first substitution as Ahmed Yasser Rayan, young attacker, replaces unlucky Walid Soliman. At the 57th minute, Ahmed el-Sheikh equalizes for Al Ahly from a superb free-kick.

Al Ahly continued the waves of attacks through the next substitutions, Ahmed Hamdy and Islam Mohareb, who made clear chances to score but they, with Walid Azaro, competed in wasting all of it.

Al Ahly holds the record of winning the Egyptian League, with 39 titles.
