CAIRO - 9 September 2017 – Zamalek SC started its journey in the Egyptian premier league with a draw with Al Entag Al Harby with one goal for each team on Saturday’s evening at Al Salam Stadium.

Zamalek started its first match in the Egyptian premier league with fresh blood. It entered the game with its new coach, Jovovic Nebosja, and eight new players among the starting squad. But the team failed to secure the first three points from its game against Al Entag Al Harby, which started the scoring with an early goal at the 9th minute of the game, scored by Omar Al Saied, Al Entag’s striker from a shot outside Zamalek’s box, which Zamalek’s goalkeeper, Ahmed Al Shenawy, failed to save.

Zamalek refused the situation of losing in the game so after conceding the goal made waves of attacks through recently joined strikers Khaled Qamar and Kabongo Kasongo, who translated those waves into a goal at the 27th minute of the game, as the Congolese striker made a high press over the back defensive line. This made them commit an error to take advantage of it and score the equalizing goal for Zamalek.

A good performance was given from new Zamalek players, especially in the midfield as Ahmed Dawoda was one of the most notable players of the game because he made what Zamalek’s midfielders failed to do the last season, which is to be the link between the defense and offense. This might give the new coach, Nebosja, a push forward to continue working in renewing blood in Zamalek and rebuilding the white castle again to compete in all competitions in Egypt and Africa.
