CAIRO - 8 September 2017: Egypt opens their participation at 2017 AfroBasket against Mozambique on Friday in Dakar, Senegal.

Egypt plays in Group D alongside Mozambique, South Africa and the host nation, Senegal.

Egyptian coach, Amr Abo El Kher depends on his veteran players like Ramy Gunady and Ibrahim el-Gamal to win the title, Egypt will miss Essam Marei and Omar Tarek services in the competition.

Egypt will play against Senegal On Saturday before ending the group stage game against South Africa on Saturday.

Senegal co-host the event with Tunisia, each country hosts 2 groups, but the final stages in the competition will be played in Tunisia.

Senegal also hosts Group B of Morocco, Uganda, Angola and Central African Republic, while Tunisia hosts Group A of Nigeria, D R Congo, Mali and Ivory coast beside Group C of Guinea, Cameroon, Rwanda and Tunisia.

Egypt won the competition five times, their last win was in 1983 in Alexandria.
