CAIRO – 6 September 2017: Egyptian Football Association President Hani Abo Rida asks Egyptian officials to allow 80,000 Egyptian fans to attend the Egyptian national team’s last home game in the 2018 World Cup Qualifiers after fans contributed the great atmosphere on Tuesday when Egypt defeated Uganda 1-0.

Egypt’s match against Congo could be the qualifying game if Ghana wins against or draws with Uganda when they meet on October 7.

Abo Rida also supported Egyptian national team manager Hector Cuper after being criticized for Egypt’s poor performance in the Uganda game.

“We appointed Cuper to qualify to the World Cup, we are at the top of the Group and that is our goal,” Abo Rida told the press.

Egypt topped Group E with nine points after beating Uganda with Mohamed Salah’s goal, Egypt is two points ahead of Uganda while Ghana stays in third place with five points.

Egypt and Congo will meet on October 8.
