Cairo – 6 September 2017: Argentina’s national team failed to achieve the first victory under their new coach, Jorge Sampaoli, when their match at home against Venezuela ended with a draw, 1-1, on Tuesday night at the 2018 World Cup Qualifiers.

Argentina started the game creating multiple chances through their attacking line which consisted of Lionel Messi, Angel Di Maria and Paolo Dybala for their forward Maoro Icardi to score first, but he failed to.

The second half started with a surprise for Argentina fans when John Murillo opened the score for Venezuela five minutes after the half time to make the game harder for the host team, but Argentina responded quickly when Maoro Icardi equalized five minutes later after Marcus Aquna cross, Argentina failed to score the winning goal in the remaining minutes.

Argentina achieved their second draw after Sampaoli was appointed as National Team coach, the first one was against Uruguay on Thursday.

Argentina shared fourth place with Peru with 24 points each, and both teams will meet on October 4.
Lionel Messi has to make a difference if he wants to play in 2018 World Cup in Russia.
