CAIRO – 5 September 2017: Ghana have renewed their hopes of qualifying for the World Cup after a surprising 5-1 victory against Congo at Stade Municipal de Kintéléin in Congo in the fourth round of group E in the African qualifiers for the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

Richmond Boakye started the scoring for Ghana in the 23rd minute of the game, then Thomas scored the second goal after only 4 minutes from the first goal, but before the end of the first half, Congo had another opinion and tried to return to the game by Lloyd Ayet’s goal in the 44th minute of the game, but Ghanaian Thomas refused the uprising of Congo and scored the third goal for Ghana in the last minute of the first half, then he added the third goal for him and the fourth for Ghana in the 69th minute of the game before Richmond Boakye put in the last word of the game by scoring the fifth goal for Ghana in the 85th minute of the game.

With this result, Ghana gained the fifth point to reach third place behind Uganda, which leads the group with 7 points. Egypt is second with 6 points, while Congo occupies the fourth and final place in the table of group E with one point.
