Croatia, Russia, Slovenia, Spain qualify to knockout stage

CAIRO – 5 September 2017: Croatia, Russia, Slovenia and Spain are the first teams to qualify for the round of 16 at EuroBasket after achieving three successive victories.

Slovenia was the first team to qualify after making their third successive victory over Greece with a 78-72 score on Sunday.

Monday witnessed three qualified teams; in Group C the Spanish team crushed their Romanian counterparts 91-50 without the participation of their first star Bao Gasol.

Spain was not the only team to qualify from Group C which takes place in Cluj Napoca; the Croatian team as well advanced to the knockout stage with a 76-72 win over Montenegro, making it their third win in a row as well. The third group also witnessed a major event, as the Hungarian team made its first victory in EuroBasket since 1969 against the Czech Republic.

While in Group D, Russia had their third successive win against Belgium to secure their place in the last round 16 of the tournament.
