CAIRO – 30 August 2017: Italian defender Leonardo Bonucci praised his opponent Sergio Ramos on Tuesday ahead of the clash between Spain and Italy on Saturday during the 2018 World Cup qualifiers.

“He is the best in the world and won the Champions League prize. Tackles are thanks to the work of the whole back line, but there is a certain science involved,” Bonucci told reporters during a press conference.
Bonucci lost the 2017 UEFA Champions League final 4-1 against Real Madrid, captained by Sergio Ramos.
Bonucci spoke about Italy’s chances to win the decisive game against Spain in Madrid, saying, “Italy has confidence because the future is home grown. There has been a generational change with young players who have a lot of quality; I hope to be part of this change and stay for several years more wearing the blue shirt. Rugani, Caldara and Romagnoli are good, and there is also the trickiness from Romana Cagliari.”

Bonucci highlighted Italy’s strongest points, saying, “In midfield there are Pellegrini and Verrati; in attack, Insigne and Belotti. Overall you can see we are in good shape.”

Italy faces Spain in the 2018 World Cup qualifiers. Both teams share the group’s top spot with 16 points each.
