CAIRO –26 August 2017 -Artist Ehab Tawfik sang at the closing ceremony of the U-23 World Volleyball Championship, which was hosted by Egypt from August 18-25 at Cairo Stadium.

The ceremony was attended by Minister of Youth and Sports Khaled Abdel Aziz, who was keen to support the Pharaohs in their match against Japan, which ended 4-0 for the Pharaohs, leading them to finish the championship in fifth place. The ceremony was also attended by Fouad Abdel Salam, chairman of the organizing committee and president of the African Volleyball Federation.

Argentina won the U-23 World Volleyball Championship with a 4-2 victory over Russia. The Cuban team won the bronze medal after beating Brazil 4-1 in the match to determine the third and fourth places, while the Pharaohs managed to achieve fifth place by beating Japan.

Tunisian referee Youssef Badeh, who managed the final match with Egyptian referee Wael Qandil, was honored.
