CAIRO – 25 August 2017: Stoke City coach Mark Hughes said Friday that Xherdan Shaqiri could miss the West Bromwich Albion game on Sunday after suffering from a back thigh injury.

The 25-year-old was replaced in the last game against Arsenal which ended in Stoke's 1-0 victory on Sunday. Hughes said it was unlikely he would be risking the Swiss winger Shaqiri.

"Seven or eight days passed after the injury, it is too early to make Shaqiri play, we will give him as long as possible to recover and then we will decide," Hughes said in the press conference on Sunday, according to Super Kora.

Stoke striker Saido Berahino is returning to his former club for the second time since his controversial departure in January. The player was cheered by West Bromwich fans on his first visit to its stadium last February but Hughes believes that the player is capable of handling the pressure.

Hughes added "he had faced the same situation before, I do not know whether the fans still have the same feeling for him or not, and when you go back to face your former team, the fans have the right to attack you."
