22 August 2017: Brighton and Hove Albion signed a four-year contract on Monday with the Colombian winger, Jose Izquierdo from Belgium team Club Brugge for a club record fee of $17 million.

“The club believed in me. They took the time to follow my football, showed me the project for Brighton and the new challenge to be in the Premier League. I liked it and made the decision to join,” Izquierdo said to the club’s official website after signing the contract.

Izquierdo , 25 years old, spoke about his new challenge in the Premier League, saying, “The Premier League is a top league and I hope I can show my qualities and help the team. The dream of everyone is to play in the Premier League.”

“This has been a very complex deal, but I am absolutely delighted we are finally in a position to confirm it is completed,” Brighton manager Chris Hughton stated to the club’s website.

Brighton was promoted to the Premier League this season, but they lost their first two games against Manchester City and Leicester City.
