CAIRO –19 August 2017: The Fantasy Football Premier League season became the talk of Premier League fans since the start of the English Premier League on August 11.
Egypt Today decided to do a brief summary about what the Fantasy Football League is and how one can play it.

Fantasy Football League is a website that gives the one playing it a budget of €100 million ($118M), with which he needs to buy 15 players he thinks will gain the most points. The key here is to have 11 strong players in the starting lineup and four average players that sit on the bench.

The way the points are calculated varies in every position. The goalkeeper receives six points if he keeps a clean sheet. Additional points are added when he saves a penalty or multiple chances or if he somehow manages to make an assist or score a goal. On the other hand, the defender is given six points if he keeps a clean sheet and another six points if he manages to score a goal or make an assist. Meanwhile, the midfielder gets a surplus of points if he makes more than one assist and scores a goal or two. Lastly, the striker will be given six points if he scores a goal and 12 points if he scores a double.

When picking the players, one should keep in mind that the performance of the players needs to be consistent. Right backs and left backs are picked the most in defense because they make many assists, and usually, if they play in a top team, they tend to keep a lot of clean sheets. One should avoid picking quality defensive midfielders, because most likely they don’t score goals or make assists, and as a result they will not receive points. The key when picking the player is finding one who has a good price and is constantly scoring or has a lot of clean sheets.

Fantasy Football League has three chips that can be used in an attempt to gain more points. The first chip is called the “bench boost”, which allows one to gain the points of both the players in the starting lineup and the players on the bench. Also, there is another option called the “free hit”, which is used when a lot of players won’t play in the next fixture. So the free hit allows unlimited transfers to be made in order to change the whole squad for only one week. Then, in the following week, the old squad is returned. The last chip is called the “triple captain”. This means that the captain’s points will be tripled during the week. For example, if one’s captain is Manchester United striker Lukaku, and he receives nine points during this fixture, his points will be tripled and Lukaku will receive 27 points.

Finally, each player has the chance to change only one player before the start of the game week. The player has unlimited changes in the first week. After the end of the first week, he can only make one transfer; if he makes more than one transfer, he will lose four points on each transfer in the following game week.
