CAIRO – 15 August 2017: The judge of the competition committee of the Spanish Federation of Soccer has agreed on Monday to suspend Portuguese striker of Real Madrid Cristiano Ronaldo for five games.
Ronaldo, who faced two yellow cards in the first leg of the Spanish Super Cup played at the Camp Nou against Barcelona on Sunday, is suspended for one game for the expulsion and another four for his physical confrontation with referee Ricardo de Burgos Bengoechea.
After being sent off after receiving the first yellow card for taking off his shirt in celebration of his goal and a second for his attempt to get a penalty kick in an counter attack in which he could score the third goal for his team, with the two yellow cards and a red card from the referee, the Portuguese player pushed De Burgos Bengoetchea, an action that can cost a suspension of between four and twelve matches, according to the Spanish newspaper El Pais.
"In the 82nd minute, Cristiano Ronaldo was admonished for the following reason: to pretend to have been infringed," reflected De Burgos Bengoetchea, which shaped the reaction of the Madrid forward after seeing the red card.
"Cristiano Ronaldo, once shown the red card, pushed me slightly in a sign of disagreement," he added.
With this, Ronaldo will miss the following matches: Barcelona in the second leg match of the Spanish Super Cup (Home), and La Liga matches of Deportivo de La Coruña (Away), Velencia(Home), Levante(Home) and Real Sociedad (Away).
