U16 basketball women reach FIBA Africa Championship’s semifinal

CAIRO – 10 August 2017: The junior U16 women’s basketball team qualified on Wednesday’s evening for the semi-finals of the FIBA Africa U16 Championship for women in Mozambique from August 5 to 12 which qualifies for the Belarus 2018 World Cup.

The national team defeated the host country Mozambique on Wednesday August 9 with a score (64-61) in the quarter-finals of the FIBA Africa Championship, Egypt after winning in the quarter final will face Angola at the semifinals of the tournament.

The junior women team had qualified for the quarter-finals of the tournament, after beating Mali in the first round with a score 66-33, Zimbabwe with a score 55-46 in the second round, and Angola in the third round with a score 56-43, according to Super Kora.

The Egyptian delegation for the FIBA Africa Championship is composed of Nabil Hafez, the member of the board of directors of the Egyptian Basketball Association as head of the delegation, Mohamed Hamed as the technical coach, Amr Assem as the general coach and Dalia Mustafa as the team’s doctor.

The junior women’s national team consists of 12 players: Nada Yasser, Hana Haitham, Habiba Hatem, Salma Amr, Nour Sherif, Hana Nabil, Injy Salah, Salma Hisham, Fatma Hany, Yara Osama, Malak Khaled, Reem Aly.
