CAIRO – 4 August 2017:Oscar Leonard Carl Pistorius, the South African sprint runner serving a six-year jail term for killing his girlfriend, was taken from prison to a hospital on Thursday, August 3, 2017 for medical examinations.

According to South African media reports, the former track star and convicted murderer was suffering from chest pains, and prison staff suspected a heart attack.

Department of Corrections spokesman Logan Maistry refused to give details about Pistorius’ medical complaint, only saying that Pistorius was having medical examinations.

On Friday, August 4, Maistry said, “Oscar has been discharged and he is back in prison.”

Last August, Pistorius denied trying to kill himself after he was treated for wrist injuries.

According to Reuters, Oscar Pistorius, the South African Paralympic gold medalist, is serving a six year jail term for being found guilty of murdering his girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp, on Valentine’s Day 2013.
