CAIRO – 3 August 2017: Atletico Madrid were crowned champions of the Audi Cup on August 2 with Mohamed Salah’s team Liverpool coming in second place.

The Audi Cup final was played on August 2 when Liverpool faced Atletico Madrid; while Napoli played Bayern Munich in the deciding match between the third and fourth place.

Atletico Madrid defeated Liverpool in the final with 5/4 score in penalties after drawing in the match time with a 1/1 score. Keidi Bare opened the score for Atletico Madrid at the 33rd minute of the first half. However, the Brazilian forward Roberto Firmino equalized the score in the late minutes of the game by scoring a superb goal making the match go to the penalty kicks, where Atletico Madrid won the match with a 5/4 score.

On the other hand, Napoli managed to come in the third place after beating German champions Bayern Munich with a 2-0 score. The Senegalese defender Kalidou Koulibaly took the lead for Napoli by scoring an amazing goal at the 14th minute. Emanuele Giaccherini netted the second goal for Napoli at the 55th minute to ensure the third place for the Italian giants, Napoli.

It is good to mention that the German champions Bayern Munich lost their two matches in the tournament and failed to score a single goal in the Audi Cup.
