CAIRO – 3 August 2017: Al-Ahly leaves the Arab Club Championship after losing to Jordanian team Al-Faisaly 2-1 at the semifinal match. The match took place at Borg Al Arab stadium on Wednesday.

Al-Faisaly qualified on Wednesday evening for the final of the Arab Championship after defeating the Egyptian champion Ahly.

It was the second victory for Al-Faisaly against Ahly during the same tournament. The Jordanian team managed to defeat Ahly in the first round of the group stage of the Arab Club Championship. The two teams were in group A together before the semifinal’s draw earlier this week.

Dominique Mendy started scoring at minute 27 of the match, but Ahly defender Ahmed Fathi equalized the match with his goal at minute 37 of the game. The game ended with a late goal from Moroccan striker Walid Azarou for Al-Faisaly.

With the 2-1 winning result, Al-Faisaly advances to the final of the Arab Club Championship. Their opponent in the finals match will be decided by the winner of the Fath Union and Esperance Sportive match, which will be played on August 3.
