CAIRO – 2 August 2017: The Egyptian Football Association (EFA) announced on August 1 the dates of the Egyptian League and Egyptian Cup matches, along with clarifying some of the rules.

The EFA had a meeting on August 1 in order to set the dates for the upcoming season. At the end of the meeting, Seif Zaher, one of the board members of the EFA, revealed the starting and end dates of the Egyptian League.

He told Egypt Today that the league is set to start on September 8 and will end on May 14, 2018. He also mentioned that the final of the 2017/2018 Egyptian Cup will be played on May 20, which marks the end of the 2017/2018 season.

Finally, Seif Zaher clarified that all teams are only allowed to play with three foreign players, claiming that the EFA will not accept the request of some clubs to register more than three foreign players in the league.

It is good to mention that Al Ahly SC was crowned the champions of the Egyptian League for the 2016/2017 season. On the other hand, the winner of the Egyptian Cup is still undecided, with Al Ahly SC, Zamalek SC, Smouha SC and Al Masry all in the semi-finals of the competition.
