Benitez has 4 Spanish players in Newcastle squad for new Premier League season – REUTERS

Cairo - 29 July 2017 : Spanish coach Rafael Benitez is known for his trust in his nation’s players. He brought many Spanish players to England during his long journey in the Premier League.

Benitez moved to England in 2004 to coach Liverpool, bringing five Spaniards to the squad in his first season, including Xabi Alonso, Luis Garcia, Antonio Nunez, Jose Miguel and Fernando Morientes.

Benitez stayed with Liverpool till 2010, signing seven more players to play for the team, including Pepe Reina, Alvaro Arbeloa, Albert Reira, Mikel San Jose, Fernando Torres, Dani Ayala and Dani Pacheco. Benitez turned Liverpool into a Spanish colony.

Benitez’s second spell in England was at Chelsea, where he found four Spanish players there already, including Juan Mata, Cesar Azpilicueta, Oriol Romeu and his old friend, Fernando Torres. They were a good company for Benitez in his only year in London.

Even it Italy , Benitez brought four Spanish players in his first year in Napoli: Raul Albiol, Toni Doblas, Jose Callejon and his old friend in Liverpool, Pepe Reina. He added another Spaniard to his team when he signed Miguel Michu in his last year in Napoli.

Benitez returned to England to coach Newcastle, where he relegated the club to the second division, but then promoted it again to the first division after only one year of relegation.

Benitez added Jesús Gámez to his only Spanish player on the Newcastle squad, Ayoze Pérez, but after promotion, he started to form a Spanish colony again in Newcastle.

Benitez signed Javier Manquillo and Mikel Merino to help Newcastle in their new season campaign.

Benitez believes in Spanish players and their ability to adapt to his strategy.
