CAIRO - 28 July 2017: American Swimmer Caeleb Dressel went crazy on Friday when he looked to the board after finishing the 100m butterfly race heats in the FINA World Aquatics Championships in Budapest.

Dressel ended the race in 50.08 seconds, only 0.28 seconds behind Michael Phelps’ World Record.

"I thought I was reading the board wrong, it's the craziest thing,” Dressel said after the race.

Dressel, 20, is expected to make this night memorable when he competes in the 100m butterfly semi-finals.

Dressel competed in the 100m butterfly heats only 30 minutes after his 50m freestyle race, which made his best record in the 100m butterfly a shock to him before the audience.

Swedish swimmer Sarah Sjostrom recorded 25.25 seconds in the Women’s 50m fly semifinals to end the qualifications in the top.

Sjostrom is also the favorite to win 100m freestyle when she competes in the final.

Sjostrom spoke about the race, saying, “I will aim to go under 52 seconds tonight but I think it will be impossible to break the world record again,”

The FINA World Championships are held in Budapest, Hungary July 14-30, 2017.
