The Egyptian Golf Federation has announced the launch of the Egypt International Golf Championship for Women and Juniors 2025, scheduled to take place from October 23 to 25, 2025, at New Giza Golf Club. The tournament will feature around 100 players representing 15 countries: Saudi Arabia, the United States, the United Kingdom, France, the Netherlands, Belarus, Tunisia, Jordan, Lebanon, Palestine, South Africa, Canada, China, the Czech Republic, and Zimbabwe, in addition to Egypt, the host nation.

The announcement was made during a press conference held on Wednesday evening at New Giza, hosted by TV presenter Merhan Amr, and attended by leading figures from the Egyptian and Arab Golf Federations, including Omar Hisham Talaat, President of the Egyptian Golf Federation; Ahmed Mokhtar, Supervisor of the Central Administration for Sports Performance and representative of the Ministry of Youth and Sports; Ghassan Kabbani, Vice President of the African Golf Confederation; Frihan Al-Bouchmawi, Member of the Arab Golf Federation Board and Chair of the Women’s Committee; Ali Mohamed, General Manager of New Giza; along with several players and representatives of sponsoring companies.

This year’s edition will witness distinguished international participation, featuring both the Women’s Championship (Nefertiti Cup) and the Juniors’ Championship, with unprecedented cash and in-kind prizes totaling nearly EGP 1 million — a first in the history of the tournament.

Omar Hisham Talaat, President of the Egyptian Golf Federation, stated that the Federation continues to implement its ambitious strategy to expand the base of the sport in Egypt, noting that participation levels have increased by more than 25% in recent years thanks to a series of initiatives that include school programs, academies, community outreach, and junior development projects.
 
Talaat extended his gratitude to Dr. Ashraf Sobhy, Minister of Youth and Sports, for his continuous support and belief in the power of sports to inspire change and create opportunities. He also thanked the Arab Golf Federation, the R&A (the global governing body of golf), and all partners for their ongoing cooperation, describing it as a key pillar in raising the level of Egyptian golf and opening new horizons for Egyptian players.
 
He emphasized that the Federation’s vision goes beyond competition and tournaments, believing that empowering women through golf is part of a broader mission to promote leadership and social impact. He added that increasing female participation in sports strengthens families and communities and supports values of equality and equal opportunity.

Talaat further highlighted that youth development remains a top priority for the Federation as an investment in Egypt’s future, through nurturing a new generation of professional players capable of representing their country with excellence. “Every camp, championship, and partnership,” he said, “is a step forward in building a new generation of young Egyptians who can lead, inspire, and take responsibility both on and off the course.”
 
The Egyptian Golf Federation President revealed that preparations are underway for the upcoming Egypt Open in Madinaty and the Asian Tour stop in Ain Sokhna, describing both as turning points for Egyptian golf and clear proof of Egypt’s growing capacity to host major international tournaments and strengthen its position as a regional and global golf destination.
 
For her part, Frihan Al-Bouchmawi, Member of the Arab Golf Federation Board and Chair of the Women’s Committee, praised the Egyptian Golf Federation’s efforts in advancing the sport and enhancing its international presence. She said that the rapid progress witnessed in Egypt reflects a clear vision and high professionalism that contribute to the development of golf across the Arab world.
 
Al-Bouchmawi expressed her delight at returning to Egypt, describing it as a second home full of warm memories and strong relationships.
