CAIRO – 28 July 2017: Everton signed a three-year contract with Newcastle United FC defender Lewis Gibson on Thursday.

The official website of Everton announced the new signing of the 17-year-old defender on Thursday and the £6 million ($7.8 million) deal puts Gibson on contract with the blue club until the year 2020.

Gibson was one of the best defenders for Newcastle's under-23 team and was promoted to the first team earlier this year. His performance with the English national under-17 (U17) at the 2017 European U17 Championship drew the attention of Everton.

The young English talent appeared with the national U17 team on 17 occasions with two goals and one yellow card.
