CAIRO – 26 July 2017: Al Ahly defender Saad Samir received an offer from Sheffield United F.C. on July 26.

According to Filgoal, a Saudi agent contacted Samir informing him that Sheffield United is interested in him joining their team.

Al Ahly’s former defender Ahmed Hegazi was the first option for Sheffield United before he departed to West Bromwich Albion. The website added that the club has two more of Egypt’s national team players, Abdallah El Said and Tarek Hamed, on their shortlist.

Samir responded to the Saudi agent saying that whoever is interested in buying him should contact the Al Ahly board.

Saudi Emir Abdallah bin Mosaad bin Abdel Aziz Al Saud has 50 percent of the club’s shares. Also, Al Ahly’s current right back Ahmed Fathy played for Sheffield United F.C. during the 2007-2008 season.
