CAIRO - 24 July 2017: Chelsea Football Club apologized in an official statement on Sunday to Chinese fans after the offensive comment of Chelsea youngster, Robert Kenedy on his Instagram account.

Robert Kenedy, 21 years, posted a photo of a sleeping Chinese Guard and wrote on it “Wake Up China, you idiot,” he deleted it after that.

“Kenedy's actions were a mistake that he will learn greatly from, his behavior does not represent the entire team and does not align with the club's high expectations and strict requirements of its young players. He has been strongly reprimanded and disciplined,” Chelsea’s official statement said.

Kennedy, who got whistled when his name was announced in pre match, apologized to China fans on his Instagram account, he said “Hello my friends, just wanna say sorry if someone was sad because I used that expression, it was no racism, just an expression."

Chelsea won over Arsenal 3-0 in a friendly clash at Beijing National Stadium.
