CAIRO – 24 July 2017: The Egyptian Olympic champion Alaaeldin Mohamed El-Sayed Abou Elkassem lost in the 32nd round of the World Fencing Championship on July 23.

The Russian champion managed to beat Abou ElKassem with a score of 15/7 in the tournament’s round, which is held in Germany.

Abou Elkassem qualified to the round of 32 after beating the champion of Greece with a score of 15/3.

Egypt is participating in the World Fencing Championships with the following players: Alaa Abou Elkassem, Mohamed Essam, Youssef Sanaa, Yara El Sharkawy, Ayman Fayez, Sherif Fayez, Mahmoud Hassan and Ahmed El Saghier.

Mohamed Essam qualified to the round of 32 after beating the Dutch champion with a score of 15/14.

The Arena Leipzig in Germany hosts the 2017 World Fencing Championships from July 19 to July 26.
