Egypt faces China in Stankovic friendly tournament

CAIRO – 20 July 2017: Egypt’s national basketball team faces China's national team on Thursday at 2 p.m. in the second match of the friendly tournament Stankovic, held in China from July 19 to 23.

Egypt is participating in the friendly tournament as a part of the preparations for the African Nations Cup AfroBasket in Tunis and Senegal from September 8 to 16, the Pharaohs lost their first game against Germany 83-69.

The Egyptian delegation is led by Amr Abou El Khair, the new head coach, in addition to Juan Antonio Orenga, the former head coach of the team. Orenga is now with the national team as the general supervisor of the basketball national teams, according to his contract with the Egyptian Basketball Federation, which ends by the end of August, according to Super Kora.

The squad list of the team included Ahmad Al Salawi, Karim Al Dahshan, Ahmed Muheib, Hamad Fathi, Moataz Okasha, Muhannad Al Sabbagh, Rameih Sameh, Haitham Kamal, Mustafa Mekawy, Ahmed Samy, Mustafa Meshaal and Youssef Shousha.

The AfroBasket draw put Egypt in group D alongside Senegal, South Africa and Mozambique. Group D matches will be played in the Senegalese capital Dakar.

The group matches are set to take place in Senegal, Egypt, South Africa and Mozambique.
