CAIRO – 19 July 2017: Egypt faces Denmark on Wednesday at the Under-20 (U 20) Handball World Cup held in Algeria, Making their 17th time appearance.

Playing alongside France, Denmark, Slovenia, Sweden and Qatar in Group B, Egypt started its participation in the tournament with a tough game against France ending in a 36-30 defeat.

After two days of rest, Egypt will continue group matches on Saturday playing against Sweden, on Sunday against Slovenia and their final group match on July 25 against Qatar. The Egyptian team is expected to win a medal after achieving the fourth place in the last World Cup in Brazil.

Egypt last won the U-20 Handball World Cup in 1993, held in Egypt, marking it as the best Arab achievement in the competition’s history. The team included Wael Abdel Ati, Egypt U-20 current coach. Other notable awards for the nation include the Bronze Medal in 1999 and taking fourth place in 2009 and 2015.

Algeria hosts U-20 Handball World Cup from July 18-30 for the first time in their history.
