CAIRO –14 July 2017: The semifinals of Wimbledon men's tennis tournament, the third Grand Slam tournament starts on Friday. The Swiss Roger Federer will face off against the Czech Tomas Berdych and the American Sam Querrey will duel Croatian Marin Cilic.

The quarterfinals held a number of surprises, such as when Andy Murray and Novak Djokovic were out of the competition, Djokovic withdrew because of an injury during his match against Czech Tomas Berdych, who qualified for the semifinals.

Querrey will face Cilic, while Berdych will face Roger Federer in the semifinal. Federer already has seven Wimbledon titles, matching the record for the number of Wimbledon titles with the retired American Bet Sampras. Federer is seeking a historic eighth title.

The achievements of the four semi-finalists:

- Querrey: The first Grand Slam semi-final.

- Cilic: America's 2014 champion.

- Federer: Wimbledon champion seven times.

- Berdych: 2010 Wimbledon runner up.
