Handball: Egypt's star-studded squad arrives in Algeria

CAIRO - 24 June 2022: The Egyptian handball national team touched down on Thursday in Algeria for the 2022 Mediterranean Games, which will be held between 25 June and 5 July.  

 

The Pharaohs will participate in the handball competition with a star-studded squad, including Ali Zaen, who won the EHF Champions League title with Barcelona last week. 

 

Egypt plays in Group A alongside Italy, Serbia, Slovenia and arch-rivals Tunisia.  

 

The Pharaohs consider the Mediterranean Games as a perfect preparation for the upcoming African championship which will be held in Cairo in July. 

 

Egypt Squad: 

Mohamed Essam El Tayar, Mohamed Ali, Karim Hendawy, Omar Bakkar, Ahmed Hisham, Hassan Walid, Yehia El Deraa, Seif El Deraa, Ali Zaen, Ahmed Khairy, Ahmed El Ahmar, Mohab Said, Akram Youssry, Mohamed Sanad, Ahmed Adel, Ibrahim El Masry, Mohamed Tarek, Shady Khalil and Abdelrahman Faisal. 

 

Egypt's biggest achievement in the Mediterranean Games came in 2013 when the Pharaohs won the gold medal in Turkey after defeating Croatia in the final.
