CAIRO - 16 June 2022: Ehab Galal is sacked from his post as the Egyptian national team manager, the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) announced on Thursday.

The coach, who was appointed as the manager of the Pharaohs last April, led the team in two official matches against Guinea and Ethiopia in the AFCON qualifiers and a friendly game against South Korea.

Galal has been heavily criticized by football fans in Egypt after the team's poor performance in the last three matches.

"Galal is no longer the manager of the Egyptian national team. The next coach will be a world class non-Egyptian manager." Hazem Imam, EFA board member, stated.

The EFA's decision was announced this afternoon after an urgent meeting at the EFA headquarters.

Imam added "We have much respect for Ehab Galal and we really appreciate him. We made the wrong decision and we are sorry."
