CAIRO-27 January 2022: Egypt national team head coach, Carlos Queiroz, was happy with the team's fighting spirit in the hard victory Ivory Coast on Wednesday which took the Pharaohs to the quarter-finals of AFCON.

After 120 minutes of goalless draw, the Egyptians were clinical in the penalty shoot-outs to win the tie 5-4.

"We played a great match and the fans should be proud of the players. We deserved to win during the ninety minutes." The coach said after the game.

After disappointing displays in the group stage, the Pharaohs put on a convincing performance against one of the biggest contenders for the title, sending a message to the fans back home that they are ready to fight for the title in Cameroon.

Queiroz added "Our performance is gradually developing. The players deserve more respect from local analysts and pundits for their performance. Everyone should support the players because they deserve respect and support."

The Egyptian fans were in euphoria after the game, hailing the courage and tactical discipline of the players during the game after being critical to the team's performance in the group stage.

Egypt will face Morocco on Sunday for a place in the semi-finals of the competition.
