LAUSANNE - 11 July 2017:Paris does not want to suffer another losing Olympic bid, French President Emmanuel Macron told reporters Tuesday after helping pitch Paris 2024 to International Olympic Committee voters.

"After three failed bids we don't want to lose a fourth one," Macron said following a presentation by the French team to an IOC meeting in Lausanne, Switzerland.

The IOC heard presentations earlier Tuesday from both Paris and Los Angeles, the two candidates vying for 2024.

Paris has been tipped as the favourite to win 2024, with LA possibly being awarded the 2028 Games as part of a double hosting deal expected to be approved by IOC members at the end of their Tuesday meeting in Lausanne, Switzerland.

Macron's visit to the Swiss city is seen as a boost to the already strong Paris bid.

"I am here to convey a message to say our people are ready to host these Games," the French leader said in English.

He again hailed the unified public support behind the bid and said that the Olympic movement's values -- like tolerance and inclusivity -- were entrenched France's "DNA".

Paris last hosted the Games in 1924.It mounted losing bids for 1992, 2008 and 2012 Summer Games.

Macron said 2024 was "the right moment" for Paris to host again and that as president he was keen to rally the country around a cause like the Games.

"It is a question of morals. It is good for a country mobilise and back a project."
