File- Marwan Dawoud celebrates hsi debut goal for the Pharaohs against Jordan

CAIRO-11 December 2021: After 120 minutes of hard-fought football, Egypt defeated Jordan 3-1 to set up a clash with Tunisia in the FIFA Arab Cup semi-finals.

Carlos Queiroz, Egypt’s head coach, was forced to make many changes to his starting line-up that faced Algeria in the last group stage game due to suspension and injuries.

Egypt had a slow start to the game and faced very driven Jordanian players, who managed to find the net 11 minutes inside the first half with a fantastic strike from Yazan Al Naimat.

The attempts continued on both sides of the pitch with The Pharaohs trying to equalize the score and avoid conceding another goal from the Jordanian’s quick counter-attacks.

Marwan Hamdy was able to level the score minutes before half time with a sensational header after receiving a beautiful cross from Ahmed Sayed Zizo.

The two teams slow down the tempo of the game after a fierce battle in the first half.

Queiroz used his bench to reenergize the team but the Jordanians fought to take the game to extra time.

The Pharaohs did not need much time to have the lead in the game as Mohamed Sherif dribbled the Jordanian defender and sent a ground pass to Ahmed Refaat, who added the second goal.

Marwan Dawoud killed the game with a beautiful header that made the score 3-1. It was the perfect occasion for the youngster to score his debut goal for the Egyptian national team.

Egypt will face Tunisia on Wednesday at 974 Stadium in Doha.
