CAIRO-1 December 2021: Egypt national team hopes for a strong start in the 2021 FIFA Arab Cup when they face Lebanon on Wednesday at Al Thumama Stadium in Doha.

The Pharaohs participate in the competition with a promising squad, dominated by the domestic league players as Ahmed Hegazi, Egypt and Al Ittihad of Jeddah defender, is the only player in the squad that plays abroad.

“It is an important preparation for us ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations. We came here with many new players in the squad but we want to go as far as we can in the competition. We wil do our best to win the title.” Amr El Soulia, Egypt national team captain, said in the pre-match press conference.

Egypt plays in Group D alongside Lebanon, Algeria and Sudan. The Pharaohs need to secure one of the two top positions in the group to reach the quarter finals.

El Soulia added “We have several young players in the squad and it is very good for them to live the experience of playing at the stadiums that will host the next World Cup.”

The game starts at 4:00 PM (Cairo Time).
