CAIRO-12 November 2021: Despite missing the last couple of games for his club PSG, Lionel Messi is fit and ready to lead Argentina against Uruguay in the 2022 World Cup qualifiers.

The Argentine captain enjoys his best spell with the national team so far, having lifted the Copa America trophy last summer in Brazil and also led them to a successful run in the World Cup qualifiers.

Lionel Scaloni, Argentina national team manager, revealed the good news for the Argentinean fans before the game, saying “In principle, we believe that Leo is good, Leo wants to play and I want him to play.”

The biggest star in Argentina, Messi, scored six goals in the campaign to put his team in a comfortable position to advance to the World Cup.

Argentina comes second in the standings, 9 points behind the leaders, Brazil, who claimed a precious win over Colombia on Thursday night to become the first South American nation to book their place in the next year’s world cup.
