CAIRO – 10 July 2017: The Canadian U-19 Basketball team won the FIBA U-19 Basketball World Cup that was held in Egypt from July 1 to July 9.

The Canadian team was crowned the champions after beating Italy in the final by a score of 79-60. This is the first time in the history of Canada’s U-19 basketball team that they are crowned champions of the FIBA U-19 Basketball World Cup. On the other side, this is Italy’s second time finishing in second place, after coming up as runners up in the 1991 World Cup.

On a similar note, the hosts, Egypt, finished in 12th place after losing to New Zealand with a score of 85-69.

Canada managed to beat France in the quarter finals before winning previous U-19 World Cup Champions USA in the semi-finals.
