CAIRO-2 October 2021: Ahmed Hegazi, Al Ittihad Jeddah Egyptian defender, put on a staggering performance on Friday, leading his side to defeat Ahli Jeddah 2-0.

The Egyptian defender scored his team’s second goal against their arch-rivals to secure his team’s victory, which sent The Tigers to the top of Saudi domestic league table with 16 points from five matches.

The Tigers bounced back to achieve an important win in the derby after losing two points in the 1-1 draw against Al Taawoun last week.

“It was very important for us to win the derby after losing two points against Al Taawoun.“ Hegazi said after the game.

After a goalless draw in the first half, Hamdan Al Shamrani opened the score for Al Ittihad, five minutes after the restart of the game.

Hegazi added the second goal in the game when he soared above the defender to meet a beautiful cross, sending a powerful header into the back of the net.

The Egyptian defender added “We did not have a great first half but we improved in the second half. It was important for us to go to the international break with a victory in the derby.”

Hegazi is set to join the Egyptian national team camp in the next few days as the Pharaohs are preparing for two crucial games against Libya in 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
