CAIRO-17 June 2021: Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta wants to keep the team's Egyptian midfielder Mohamed Elneny in his squad and he told the club officials to start negotiations with the Egyptian player to renew his contract. 
 
The Egyptian midfielder still have one year in his contract with the North London giants and he is expected to continue his journey with the club for another period, according to Football London. 
 
Elneny joined Arsenal in 2016 from FC Basel of Switzerland and since then he has been an important player in the team. 
 
He spent one year in Turkey on a loan to Besiktas, with whom he had a fantastic season that even improved his situation when he returned back to Arsenal after the end of the loan. 
 
During his five years at the club, Elneny has made 130 appearances for the club, including 69 games in the Premier League. 
 
The last season saw Elneny scoring his first and only goal in the Premier League against Newcastle United with a fantastic volley from the edge of the box.
