CAIRO, 25 April 2021: Mohamed Essam El-Tayyar, Al-Ahly's goalkeeper, led his team to win the Egypt Handball Cup, for the eighth time in Al Ahly history, by beating Zamalek 26-23.
Al-Ahly avenged their defeat a few days ago in the deciding match for the league title, when Zamalek won 18-17.
Al-Ahly advanced in the first half by a difference of 5 goals in the middle of it, but the half ended with a 4-goal difference for Al-Ahly.
In the second half, El-Tayyar shone dazzlingly, and dealt with 4 penalty shots, which were alternated by Ahmed Al-Ahmar, Yahya Al-Daraa, Akram Yusri and Omar Al-Wakeel.
Although Zamalek is close to achieving a comeback with the second half half, but the brilliance of the pilot and Al-Ahly's defense secured Al-Ahly's victory by a 3-goal difference in the end, 26-23.
El Tayar was in a good run of form in the game and played a crucial role to lead the Red Eagles to the winning podium.
“Many people thought that losing the Egyptian League title will affect us. However, Al Ahly’s character led us to defeat Zamalek SC tonight and clinch the title.” El-Tayyar said to Al Ahly's official website.
“Al Ahly have many brilliant players and this encourages me to show my greatest performance.”
