CAIRO – 4 July 2017: Salvador Dali is the Spanish artist and surrealist icon. He was known for his pointy mustache and painting melting clocks but what most of do not know is that he was also the graphic designer behind the classic logo of Chupa Chups.

Chupa Chups was first founded in 1958 by Enic Bernat. The product (lollipops) was called GOL, but Bernat hired an advertisement agency to help rename the product. The agency named the product Chupa Chups. Chupar is Spanish word that means “to suck”.

In 1969 Bernat had problems with the branding, thus he asked Dali to help him out. Dali took the time to design the logo of Chupa Chups immediately.

According to Phaidon U.K, Dali demanded that his design should be placed on the top of the lollipop, not on the side, so everyone can see it.

Chupa Chups logo is one of the live logos that did not change from the day Dali designed it until now. Hence, if you are buying Chupa Chups, you own one of Dali's master pieces.
