CAIRO – 13 September 2020: “The Walk of Egypt’s People will lead to a change in [developing] Cairo,” stated Egyptian Prime Minister Mustafa Madbouli during a cabinet meeting with Cairo Governor Khaled Abdel Aal, Deputy Minister of Housing for the National Projects Khaled Abbas, and Deputy Minister of Housing for Technical Affairs Abdel Khaleq Ibrahim.
After being updated on the latest development of this project, Madbouli directed the ministry to accelerate the implementation to complete in record time, according to a statement from the Cabinet on Sunday.
The under-construction Walk if Egypt’s People along Nile Corniche aims at removing encroachments on the river from Cairo to Aswan, Upper Egypt.
In January 2020, Madbouli said that a pier and an open-air theater would be constructed as part of the project meant to develop the course of the Nile River from Aswan until Cairo, noting that the project also aims to increase greenery and tourist sites in Cairo to be similar to international cities overlooking waterways.
The 4.7-kilometer walk will be established on two levels; the upper walk and the lower one. The project would include 19 buildings that include five restaurants, five cafeterias, and 62 commercial shops. Three garages would be established to have 180 cars.
