CAIRO – 24 June 2017: Snapchat released a new feature this week, one that lets users track each other’s location. Snap Maps’ main idea is to allow friends and other snapchatters know where you are and what you are doing.

According to the Guardian, the company has built a new way to explore the world, see what is happening, find your friends and get inspired to go on an adventure.

The Guardian adds that when a person first uses the feature they either choose to be visible to their entire friend list, a selected group of their connections or not at all.

However, this feature raised fears among parents and police who are afraid it could be used for stalking. Parents have been warned to turn off their children’s Snap Maps; many Snapchat users are young adults and teenagers.

The new feature is designed to help friends meet up or attended events together, but it also raised fears that it could be abused. The Telegraph UK said police officers are mainly concerned about teenage and child users.

It is important to know who you are sharing your location with because it may allow people to know where you live or where you hang out.
