No tourists are quarantined in Egypt: Official

CAIRO - 22 March 2020: Chairman of the Hospitality Chamber MagedFawzy affirmed that tourists visiting Egypt at present are not quarantined, and that they are completing their programs until their departure dates, which were previously set.

The aviation suspension went into effect on March 19, and will last until March 31. The Ministry of Civil Aviation declared that tourists, who had already arrived before the suspension would continue their stay, and that domestic and cargo flights would continue.

Fawzy confirmed that only workers in hotels and resorts would be quarantined for 14 days after the last tourist checks out from each.

Head of the Supervision on Hospitality Establishments Department at the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities Abdel Fatah al-Assi stressed that travel agenciesmust amend theirprograms in light of the closure of museums and archaeological sites on March 23-31.

On Saturday, the number of coronavirus cases increased by nine to become 294, while the number of patients who recovered and left the quarantine hospital recorded 41. Two Egyptian patients passed away, for the total figure of deaths to be 10. Those are a 68-year-old woman and a 75-year-old man. Both of them are from Giza governorate.
