CAIRO – 13 June 2017: Over the years, engagement rings and wedding bands have come in many different shapes and designs: thick, thin, concave, convex, engraved – the list could go on.

Traditionally, the most common engravings on or inside of rings were names and anniversary dates. However, this trend is changing in 2017 and engraved fingerprints are now in vogue.

According to Maire Clarie U.K magazine, fingerprint engraving onto wedding rings is officially becoming a thing.

A fingerprint might not sound like the most appealing thing, but the result is pretty glamorous.
The idea came after someone was inspired by a design they saw on wood and thought of putting it on jewelry as mentioned in Maire Clarie U.K magazine.

People who choose the fingerprint option usually go for twin plaza metals according to Jeweller Magazine .

When people go buy their engagement rings the supplier shows them a wide array of ring brands and types in boxes of 67 rings each. According to “Jeweller Magazine” the samples are nickel-plated brass but look like 18-carat white gold.

“With laser, an engagement ring is provided with a fingerprint engraving on the inside or the outside, plus a traditional name engraving,” according to Jeweller Magazine.

However Egyptians are always looking for a brand name in the engagement ring and other than that it has to be double rings, one made of gold and another diamond ring on top of it. Hence, The fingerprint trend might not work as the ideal engagement ring for Egyptians.
