CAIRO- 9 June 2017: A new study reveals that self-criticism makes a person more flexible and resilient to traumas, according to MENA news agency.

The study stated that individuals, who organize their lives following a failure, tend to have higher self-confidence and become persistent in finding strategies suitable to tackle different negative situations.

Researchers in University of La Rioja confirmed that flexibility is a skill that individuals can learn through their life. They added that this coping mechanism may help students who fail in their exams to learn about their mistakes.

There are techniques to apply constructive self-criticism that is said to build one’s personality; these techniques involve an individual’s criticism to changeable behavior rather than global dilemmas that may lead to self-depression, Psychology Today suggested.

The report by Psychology Today further added that if a person is subject to an external situation impacting him/her, they can criticize these circumstances, but later try to change them, thus developing a health criticism pattern.

A person can also avoid self-judgment by considering the impact of one’s actions on other people and reorienting one’s attention to build healthy relationships with others.
Self-compassionate self-criticism is another aspect Psychology Today suggests, which allows individuals to confront parts of themselves they are afraid of and accepting those flaws.
