CAIRO – 1 June 2017: Very good news has arrived for stray, abandoned and lost pets in Cairo. After losing their homes and thus their ability to survive, such pets may find a new home or at least shelter via a new application, Pet Spot.

Created by Mohamed Zakaria, Salma Ali, Nour El Din Ahmed, and Heba Bassem, all students at Ahram Canadian College, the app is designed to link the animal’s location with the nearest pet shelter. Just grab your phone, take a picture of the animal and the nearest shelter will immediately respond.

If you’ve ever seen a stray animal struggling in the street but weren’t sure what to do next, this app gives you a new option.

The app creators have linked it to animal rescue groups around Egypt, hoping they will connect to more locations around the country.

Helping these helpless souls survive in Egypt’s busy cities, this app is one of the best news ever for animal lovers.
