CAIRO - 15 June 2018: While the Egyptian national team shined in their first World Cup match on Friday, “Invest in Egypt” and “Experience Egypt” flashed on the big screens and all around the court promoting foreign direct investment and tourism to Egypt.

Earlier this week, Egypt was selected as the first African Regional Supporter of FIFA World Cup 2018. The contract signed with the Ministry of Investment and International Cooperation’s “Egypt – Experience and Invest” campaign aims at promoting Egypt as a global investment destination and attracting tourists from around the world, by speaking to millions of World Cup followers.

Egypt’s Minister of Tourism Rania al-Mashat had affirmed that “Egypt - Experience and Invest” would use the opportunity of the World Cup qualification to showcase, in a modern way, the rich and rewarding diversity of tourism experiences that Egypt offers.

The ministry’s international tourism campaign aims to promote the beauty of Egypt to millions of soccer fans through the World Cup events.

The campaign will also showcase the wide spectrum of investment opportunities in the country. “Being an Official Regional Supporter of the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia™ gives us the outreach in Africa to highlight and communicate the premium positioning and enormous investment diversity and potential Egypt has to offer,” Minister of Investment and International Cooperation Sahar Nasr said Tuesday.

Despite missing the ‘Egyptian King’ Mohamed Salah, the Pharaohs played a strong first game on Friday. Uruguay, however, ended the game with a 90th-minute winner to see off Egypt 1-0 in the tournament opener.

The Pharaohs have to win their upcoming games against Russia and Saudi Arabia to secure a seat in the 16th round.
